When Is The Ab Belt Most Effective?

by Debbie on April 4, 2012

It is normal for us people to want to see the results of any undertaking or venture that we get into. When we start a new project or business venture, or begin a diet plan or weight-loss program, seeing big or small results adds to the excitement and assures us that there is some benefit or reward to all the effort, expense, and time that we are putting into our goals.

Some undertakings reap results right away, while others take a little more time before any considerable achievements can be noticed. For example, with weight-loss programs, fitness regimens, or exercise plans, you will not immediately notice major changes to your physique within the first few days of working out and eating right. What you might experience, initially, is cravings for the not-so-nutritious food you are used to eating, and muscle pain from the physical exertions. The rewards come a bit later, if you continue.

Because we want immediate results, we are easily attracted to any devices that promise a faster route to our intended results. The profileration of abdominal toning belts, for example, can be attributed largely to its assertion that users can speed up the toning of their abdominal muscles even with little physical exercise. Using electronic muscle stimulation, muscles around the abdominal area are made to expand and contract in much the same way they do during physical exercise, and this apparently leads to muscle toning and, eventually, a set of six-pack abs.

Rather than looking at these contraptions as an alternative to exercise and eating right, it is generally smarter to consider them a companion to workouts and good nutrition. For one thing, these ab belts do not get rid of excess fat around the midsection, so any fat around this area will hinder the machine from doing its work. On the other hand, if you are eating the right foods, exercising regularly, and maintaining an active lifestyle, the ab belt can truly be effective in doing what it is designed to do, which is concentrate the muscle toning around the abdominals.

Feel Good About Yourself Inside And Out

by Debbie on March 22, 2012

Beauty and personal appearance is a priority for most people. This is the reason why the market for beauty products, accessories, cosmetics, anti-aging treatments, plastic surgery, and fitness and health products is a multi-billion dollar segment of the retail industry. We all want to look better and subsequently feel good about ourselves as well.

Most people you ask will readily admit that a big part of their self-esteem and confidence are related to how their perception of their personal looks. When someone is confident about their looks, their skin, their general appearance, there is a tendency to be better motivated at work, relate better with people, and get an extra boost of confidence. On the flip side, any insecurity about personal appearance directly affects someone’s performance and drive to perform better or push for development.

Achieving that perfect body is one driving factor behind the explosion of fitness centers, gyms, and equipment like the flex belt. Even simple daily activities to keep oneself active such as running, hiking, or walking are being extolled for their physical benefits. This goes hand in hand with cosmetics and beauty.

Oftentimes, however, our society focuses too much on outward beauty and appearance but neglects the importance of values and integrity, or “inner beauty”. Because of excessive emphasis on how someone looks, many begin to neglect other areas of personal development that should also be cultivated and continually improved. While it is not wrong to maintain one’s body and appearance, we must be careful not to forget that it is a person’s total being—inside and out—that truly matters.

Improving one’s personal appearance, if done right and without excess, has benefits that can certainly be obtained such as a healthier and stronger physical state, or delaying skin aging with creams and topical treatments. But let us always keep in mind that external beauty alone cannot fill that need for fulfillment, achievement, and true happiness. Developing both inner and outer beauty, personality, and knowledge will lead to more fulfillment in the end.
